Happy New Year~! 2010 breezed on by (at least it did for me), but since a new year has begun, we can "start anew" (a la Seiji in Freeter). :) I hope you'll enjoy another year of my translations, lol.

This is a rather recent Recomen, as it was from his birthday last year (2010). Regular readers: I'll still continue to fill in the missing BayStorm and Recomen clips. I just thought this Recomen was special, as the radio program fell right on his birthday. <3 Chika-san isn't here (for reasons you'll find out reading the translations xD), but Aiba-chan isn't alone. Everyone, meet Yano-kun. I wonder if his first name is Kenta. 8)

Kind reminders:
+ My translations should NOT be used elsewhere or reposted anywhere without my consent. If you want to use my translations for something, please PM me and tell me how you intend to use them. Please respect this rule: 30-minute radio shows do take time to translate.
+ If you want to post about these translations somewhere (your own blog, forums, etc.), a link back to my page would be kindly appreciated. [ex: "I read in a Recomen translation from [livejournal.com profile] amnosxmatsujun that Aiba-chan..."] *thank you!
+ If you enjoyed the translations, I'd love to hear from you! :) Comments are

Highlights from this Recomen:
# IT'S AIBA-CHAN'S BIRTHDAY! xD This is more than enough reason, but let's continue on...
# Secrets about Aiba's... jaw? @_@
# What does Aiba-chan think about having his birthday so close to Christmas?
# Let's hear what our Miracle Boy really thinks about his partner-in-crime. ;)
# If you've got a mole/freckles fetish like I do, you're in for a treat of sorts.

A: Don’t fret: I’m with ya! Arashi – Aiba [laugh] Masaki’s Recomen! Arashi Remix!
[Stevie Wonder – “Happy Birthday” plays in background]

A: Good evening! This is Aiba Masaki from Arashi~! The background music isn’t the usual one I hear. In fact, December 24th... Aiba Masaki has turned twenty-eight! [applause]

Y: Happy birthday!

A: Thank you! But on such an important date... Chika-san is absent.

Y: He is.

A: Where’s Chika-san? Is he running late again today?

Y: Actually, I’ve received a text message from him.

A: Text message?

Y: Yes, a text message, for me.

A: For you, Yano-san?

Y: Yes, to me.

A: Okay.

Y: Let me read it. “Happy birthday, Aiba-kun!”

A: Thank you!

Y: “And while we’re at it, Merry Christmas.”

A: Merry Christmas.

Y: “I’m on Christmas break at the moment.”

A: [chuckle]

Y: “I’ll be absent until January 7th, so you and Yano-kun do your best running the show! Aloha~! From Chika-san.”

A: You’ve got to be kidding me!!

Y: [laugh]

A: What the hell is this “Christmas break” business?!

Y: Mm, it’s a rather long break.

A: Christmas bre—wait, he’s away until the 7th?

Y: Yes... two weeks.

A: Did he go to Hawaii? Since he said, “Aloha”?

Y: [laugh] Well, the “aloha” did sound like he’s having a blast.

A: Right?!

Y: Mm-hmm.

A: What? Not like a Hawaiian Club, but the actual island of Hawaii? (*note: These are gatherings where members of the club come to experience and learn Hawaiian culture and cuisine)

Y: I wonder, hm...

A: Hawaii? What the heck... Chika-san’s working hard, too.

Y: Mm.

A: Lately, people have been coming to him, calling him, you know... demanding things from him. So many job offers at his door.

Y: [laugh]

A: Yano-san?

Y: Yes?

A: We’ll be running the show today, then?

Y: Yes.

A: Today’s... it’s rare to be doing this show right on my birthday. For years...

Y: It hasn’t happened?

A: I don’t think it has, that it lands right on a Friday.

Y: I see.

A: Right, anyway, let’s get excited for this week’s show!

Y: Yes.

A: Let’s get started! Arashi – Aiba Masaki’s Recomen! Arashi Remix! Good evening once again! This is Aiba Masaki from Arashi. This show is brought to you from Bunka housou in Hamamatsu city and broadcasted nationwide. Without delay, here’s the first number for the evening. What should I play? I choose this one. Please listen to it. This is “Hatenai Sora”.
[Arashi – “Hatenai Sora”]

A: Let’s light the fuse to a fun-filled weekend! Arashi – Aiba Masaki’s Recomen! Arashi Remix. A-1GP Saikyou kettei-sen! (*The Craziest of the Craziest Play-offs! The “A” stands for “Aiba”, and GP stands for “grand prix”) In this segment, we’ll read about some of the “craziest of the craziest” events that have happened around you. Let’s get to ‘em. We’ve got tons of mail this week as well, so I’d like to read off some of them.

Y: There sure are a lot.

A: First is by radio pen name Sakuraba ganso-san from Chiba (*Founder of Sakuraba; among Japanese fans, ‘Sakuraiba’ is called ‘Sakuraba’). Thank you very much.

Y: Thank you very much.

A: “My Saturdays are the craziest. In my family, Saturdays are known as pot sticker day. Would you believe that we make nearly 130 of them in one go? Don’t you think this is crazy?” Whaaat?!

Y: [laugh]

A: 130?!

Y: Right.

A: Pot stickers! But pot stickers and rice... now that’s the best!

Y: Perfect combo?

A: Pot stickers and rice is perfect!

Y: Together?

A: Yeah, that collaboration.

Y: [laugh] It’s a collaboration?

A: It is! You drench the pot stickers in the sauce, then, you blot out the sauce on the rice, maybe two rebounds on the rice before eating it. It’s so good! But...! I... don’t like it when my rice is doused in sauce when it comes to beef rice bowls.

Y: Hm...

A: I order it without the sauce. I contradict myself when it comes to that dish.

Y: You don’t want the rice to be swimming in sauce.

A: Right, but if it’s pot sticker sauce, bring it on.

Y: [laugh] I see.

A: I think so. But 130 in one go? Wow...

Y: That’s crazy.

A: It is! Crazy indeed.

Y: It sure is.

A: I wonder if they eat it all. If they do, that’s pretty amazing, too. Want to pick one, Yano-kun?

Y: Sure. How about... a seventh grader, radio pen name Oyako sorotte Arashi fan desu-san (*Both my parents and I are Arashi fans).

A: Thank you very much.

Y: “My mom was part of the English-speaking Club in high school, but they only met once a year. They went to go see cherry blossom trees during that meeting.”

A: [laugh]

Y: “Isn’t this pretty crazy?”

A: Yeah, it sure is.

Y: [laugh]

A: What you’d imagine is more like, “Let’s pass those EIKEN exams!” (*note: An equivalent to JLPT, but tests English proficiency) Wouldn’t you think so?

Y: But the mom of Oyako sorotte Arashi fan desu-san...

A: Was part of the English-speaking Club.

Y: Yes, the unfortunate... the unfortunate English-speaking Club.

A: I see~! Crazy, yes.

Y: Definitely, in that sense.

A: They’re really sendin’ ‘em in. Here I go. This one’s from radio pen name Arashi no bangumi de itsumo waraisugite onaka ga itai-san from Chiba (*I laugh so hard watching Arashi shows that my stomach hurts). Thank you very much. “I live in an incredibly, rural town. I use the train to get to school, but it stops if the wind is too strong. I’ve been stuck inside the train three times already. On top of that, two times out of that three were recent occurrences. It stopped on the way to school, then on the way back home. Isn’t this the craziest?”

Y: I see.

A: It stops if the wind is too strong? I don’t hear that often. Did you know that Chiba has the most number of tennis courts in all of Japan?

Y: Oh! [laugh]

A: [laugh]

Y: Such wonderful information! [laugh]

A: [laugh] Tennis courts!

Y: [laugh] Really?

A: Really.

Y: How do you know such information?

A: Well, I mean, I’m a Chiba native.

Y: Chiba natives are aware of this?

A: Yes, we’ve the most number of tennis courts.

Y: Wow...

A: Let’s put aside whether they are well kept or not.

Y: Let’s not factor that in, focus on the place.

A: Right.

Y: You’re proud of that, huh?

A: I sure am.

Y: [laugh]

A: I feel sorry for her.

Y: Yeah.

A: She gets on the train in the morning to go to school, but it stops due to strong winds.

Y: Yes.

A: [laugh] And on the way back, it stopped again.

Y: [laugh]

A: It’s almost an invitation to visit that town. Let’s move on.

Y: Okay. This is from Hamada Yuka-san from Suginami Ward in Tokyo: “KonAiba!” (*note: “Konbanwa” (‘good evening’) + “Aiba” = KonAiba)

A: KonAiba!

Y: “Everyone who knows me knows that I’ve got a leg fetish. I can’t get enough of your legs peeking from your outfits in the ‘To be free’ and ‘Hatenai Sora’ PVs! The little amount of leg I can see when you wear Aiba-length pants also drives me crazy. You’ve won my heart! When I meet someone for the first time, I check out their legs first. Don’t you think my leg fetish is the craziest?” Wow, thank you very much!

Y: [laugh]

A: I’ll show ‘em off, then. I’ll show you some knee, pretty soon, I’ll show my thighs.

Y: Your thighs? Like Inaba-san from B’z. (*note: Japanese rock band)

A: Short shorts.

Y: Short shorts.

A: Yeah.

Y: Will Aiba-length pants shorten as time passes?

A: Little by little. I gotta make upgrades to ‘em.

Y: [laugh]

A: Leg fetish, huh? Let’s move on. This is by radio pen name Jun-chan-san from Tokyo, sixteen years old: “In the past, I’ve dislocated my jaw five times. Isn’t this quite crazy, in more than one meaning of the word?” [laugh]

Y: [laugh] So quick to conclude.

A: [laugh]

Y: Ah, I see.

A: Five times?!

Y: Have you ever dislocated your jaw?

A: I’ve a temporomandibular joint problem myself.

Y: Oh, really?

A: Yes.

Y: I see...

A: It really hurts!

Y: What?! When you’re eating, for example?

A: It doesn’t dislocate completely... it just shifts for a good while afterwards. In my case, anyway.

Y: Right, right.

A: My jaw hasn’t ever popped out of place or anything.

Y: Mm.

A: But the right side of my jaw is weaker, so the doctor has told me not to sleep on my stomach.

Y: Oh, even now?

A: Even now.

Y: Really!

A: Really. Let’s move on.

Y: This is by radio pen name Natsumi-san from Nagano, she’s sixteen years old.

A: Thank you very much.

Y: “Aiba-san, Chika-san, KonAiba.”

A: KonAiba [laugh]. Chika-san is not here today!

Y: Sorry. I’m sorry it’s just me, Yano.

A: He’s Aloha-ing at the moment.

Y: [laugh] “I sent my friend a text message, but she wouldn’t reply back. I became worried that the message hadn’t been sent, so I checked my ‘sent’ folder. But, it looked like it was properly sent. She’s in my class, but she didn’t mention anything about it and I had forgotten about it. Two weeks later, I got a reply from her. She goes, ‘I forgot to check my cell phone’ between laughs.”

A: [laugh]

Y: “Don’t you think it’s crazy that she sent me a text message two weeks later?”

A: It is. They met at school during that span of time, too.

Y: Right. [laugh]

A: Right? Mm... not looking at your cell phone for two weeks is pretty crazy. So, in a way, she can live without a cell phone.

Y: True.

A: Yeah. But this happens occasionally.

Y: For two weeks?

A: Two weeks is going too far, but let’s say you received a text message asking you if you wanted to eat out.

Y: Okay.

A: And say you couldn’t reply to them that day.

Y: Oh... yeah, that happens.

A: You can’t respond the next day, either. Maybe a day more after that, you reply, “Let’s go eat.” [laugh]

Y: [laugh]

A: Even though the moment has already passed.

Y: That happens.

A: Right? It happens.

Y: When you can’t reply.

A: It happens. Also, after reading the message, you think you’ve sent them a reply.

Y: Oh! That definitely happens.

A: Right?!

Y: Yes.

A: I tend to do this, too.

Y: They send another message to remind you, and you think, “Didn’t I reply to you already?”

A: It happens, right?

Y: Yes.

A: I assume I’ve already replied to them. “Yadda-yadda-yadda, at so-and-so.” I read it, tell myself, “Got it!” and close my phone.

Y: [laugh] Yeah, yeah. Exactly...

A: It feels as if I’ve typed it out when I think it.

Y: Exactly.

A: I see. Anyway.

Y: Mm-hmm.

A: If you have any crazy stories, please send them into this segment. This concludes A-1 “Craziest of the Craziest” Play-offs.

Chika-san: [singsong] “Yurase yurase yurase~ motto donna toki mo bokura wa~”

A: Ready, go!

A/C: Arashi – Aiba Masaki’s Recomen! Arashi Remix!

A: Oshiete Aiba-chan! (*Tell me, Aiba-chan!) Here, I’ll answer questions that you’ve sent in~! Let’s get to ‘em, come on! Let’s start with this one.

Y: Okay.

A: This is by radio pen name Nanae-san from Tokyo: “Your birthday is on December 24th. My birthday is two days before that, on the 22nd. Like you, my birthday is combined with Christmas festivities. They call it a ‘birthday party’ but it’s actually a Christmas get-together. I don’t get separate presents, so Santa never visited my home. When I was young, while my friends raved, ‘Santa brought me a present!’ I glared at them thinking, ‘Santa ain’t real.’ I was a realistic, not-so-innocent kid.”

Y: [laugh]

A: “Aiba-san, if your own children were born near and or on Christmas, would you combine the two festivities?”

Y: I see.

A: I see.

Y: Knowing first-hand how it feels...

A: Right... I’d combine ‘em!

Y: [laugh]

A: I’m thinking I’d celebrate ‘em together.

Y: One party?

A: Mm-hmm. We’re experiencing economic recession, anyway.

Y: [laugh]

A: I don’t know. But... looking back on it now, it’s a fun time of the year.

Y: I bet.

A: Right?

Y: People are running about this time of the year, and we’ve talked about this before, but since it’s Christmas shopping season, you get to choose whatever you want.

A: Exactly! I’ve got such a variety to choose from. I was quite fond of the idea. The person who got the shortest end of the stick is my little brother.

Y: When’s his birthday?

A: November.

Y: November?

A: 13th.

Y: 13th.

A: ... is his birthday, and yet...

Y: They combine his?

A: Well, rather... [laugh], Christmas doesn’t exist in the Aiba Family.

Y: Ah, okay, okay.

A: The argument was, “Your older brother doesn’t get a Christmas present, so it’s unfair that you get two.”

Y: Oh, I get it.

A: Right...

Y: [laugh]

A: So he didn’t get presents on Christmas. I feel bad for him. Anyway, I’d combine ‘em.

Y: Really?

A: Yeah, that’s your destiny.

Y: [laugh] Destiny?

A: Yes.

Y: Just accept it?

A: Yes.

Y: I see. How’s this one? This may have been asked previously. This one comes from radio pen name Miina-san from Sakai, Fukui: “KonAiba!”

A: KonAiba!

Y: “This may be a sudden question, but let’s be honest: who among the Arashi members, excluding you, is most perverted?”

A: Hold up, hang on.

Y: Okay.

A: [laugh] Hold on, hold on. She speaks as if I’m unmistakably first place in this category.

Y: [laugh] That’s a given.

A: That’s not fair.

Y: Yeah, yeah. [laugh]

A: What?

Y: “Also, do you all talk about dirty topics in the greenroom? Let me know.”

A: And Miina-chan is fourteen years old...

Y: She is.

A: ...That’s young.

Y: I agree.

A: Well... we don’t talk about those things, to be honest.

Y: But it’s true, that once you hit this age, your late twenties, you don’t really talk about such things.

A: We don’t.

Y: Surprisingly.

A: I don’t think we talk about perverse things at all!

Y: Mm, true.

A: I mean, if someone told me to talk about such things, I will.

Y: [laugh]

A: It’s not like I’m refusing to talk about it. It’s just not brought up.

Y: Ah... the perverted conversations.

A: Yeah, so the most perverted member excluding myself... you can’t really imagine the others.

Y: Among the four...

A: Let’s continue on, then. This is by radio pen name Yukari-san from Chiba: “Good evening, Aiba-kun and Chika-san! What I want to know is about Chika-san. The reason being, he speaks very similarly to how my friend does, his voice and how he pronounces the last syllable of words. It amazed me! What kind of person are you, Chika-san? I’ve been curious, so do let me know.” This is good!

Y: [laugh] While he’s away?

A: It’s a fitting question while he’s away! What kind of person IS Chika-san?

Y: Hm...

A: I’ve known him for ages!

Y: That’s right.

A: Since this show began...

Y: That makes it nine years. I think, this year—

A: We’ve been together for nine years!

Y: Mm-hmm.

A: Chika-san will agree to do anything. Even for this show... uh, the fetus, before it becomes a chick...

Y: Oh, balut! (*note: fertilized duck embryo still within the egg)

A: Balut!

Y: Right.

A: He totally ate it because he lost.

Y: I wasn’t there that day, but I heard about it from the man himself.

A: Did you?!

Y: Yeah.

A: That was cra... crazy! The balut... it’s called “balut”, right?

Y: Balut, yes.

A: Balut... shall we do it again?

Y: [laugh]

A: Let’s bring it back.

Y: Bring it back? [laugh]

A: Yeah, the “Returns” series.

Y: [laugh]

A: That balut was absolutely crazy. I want to do it again.

Y: I see, so he’s got a gutsy side.

A: He does, that Chika-san.

Y: That’s true, remember with “Summer Splash”? He sung it perfectly!

A: [laugh] “Summer Splash” definitely took guts.

Y: No, really, that... that took me by surprise. I thought he’d just give a halfhearted attempt.

A: That he’d get by.

Y: And I thought that he’d make it into a joke. But he was more than prepared!

A: [laugh]

Y: Why was he so adamant about it?

A: Yeah, I mean... I was told he listened to it endlessly since then.

Y: That’s right.

A: “Summer Splash”.

Y: He certainly l-listened countless times. He told me he listened to it while taking a bath, too.

A: This is enough talk about Chika-san.

Y: [laugh] Okay.

A: Let’s move on.

Y: Sure. This is by radio pen name Akarin-san from Gifu, fifteen years old. This is her first time sending in anything to this show. “This—”

A: Oh! Thank you very much.

Y: “This may be a naïve question, but I don’t understand people’s attraction to napes of the neck. My friends tell me that I have a pretty one, but I don’t see the attractiveness at all. There was an Arashi show where each of you were showing off the napes of your neck, but even after seeing yours, I don’t understand its charm. Do you like the nape of the neck, Aiba-kun? If you do, would you mind explaining to me its charm?” This is along the same lines as that fetish story we had earlier.

A: Hrm... she can’t grasp the charm of the nape of the neck.

Y: Right.

A: But I don’t really get it, either.

Y: Oh, really?

A: I don’t get excited seeing the nape of the neck.

Y: Ah... but you know, when women wear kimonos and have their hair up to stay cool. During the summer and such.

A: Right, yeah.

Y: That’s sexy, it gets my imagination goin’.

A: [laugh] I see!

Y: Yeah.

A: That’s quite some imagination you’ve got there!

Y: [laugh]

A: I’m moving on.

Y: Okay.

A: You’re in the same ballpark as Chika-san.

Y: No, no, no. I’ve just been influenced, having been here with him every week.

A: Every week.

Y: Yes.

A: Of course.

Y: Yes, exactly. This is from radio pen name Aiba-chan, Bartender tanoshimi ni shitemasu from Saitama.

A: Thank you very much!

Y: “Aiba-chan and Chika-san, KonAiba!”

A: KonAiba!

Y: “Aiba-chan, Happy 28th Birthday!”

A: Thank you very much!

Y: “It’s already December, the end of the year. So, I have a question for you. What were you happiest about in 2010? For me, it was that I got to go to an Arashi concert (at Kokuritsu) for the first time. I was so moved by your performance, Aiba-chan. It must be a busy time for both of you, so don’t overwork yourselves, Aiba-chan and Chika-san!”

A: What I was happiest about?

Y: What were you happiest about in 2010?

A: Let’s see...

Y: Okay.

A: I got a freckle on my right ring finger.

Y: Whoa! You must be elated about that! [laugh]

A: [laugh] Elated?!

Y: [laugh]

A: Does it mean anything to get a freckle here? I didn’t have one here, I got it in 2010!

Y: Did you cut yourself there?

A: In fact, this is a recent happening, probably sometime within the past two weeks.

Y: Really... [laugh]

A: I wonder why. Could you research this for me?

Y: Got it, so...

A: On my right hand...

Y: Freckle analysis.

A: Ring finger. Between...

Y: Right ring finger, okay.

A: My first and second knuckle joints.

Y: Okay.

A: I’m excited to see what it means.

Y: Me, too. I’ll... get to researching, then. [laugh]

A: [laugh] You do that. This concludes the Tell Me, Aiba-chan! segment. Let’s have a listen now. What should we play? I haven’t asked you which Arashi songs you like. Do you have any?

Y: Me? This may be cheesy and mainstream, but I just love “Love so sweet”!

A: Gotcha. Please listen now. This is Arashi’s “One Love”. (*note: Either Yano-kun blundered or Aiba-chan’s being mischievous here)
[Arashi – “One Love”]

A: Send your postcards to Bunka Housou Arashi – Aiba Masaki’s Recomen! Arashi Remix!. Zip code 105-8002. E-mail address: Arashi@joqr.net. Please put the name of the segment in the subject. You can also send us a message through the Bunka Housou website on your cell phone. We’re just about out of time! Yano-kun, so today...

Y: Yes?

A: We got to talk, just the two of us, in the absence of Chika-san.

Y: It’s a first.

A: It is!

Y: We chat for a bit before going on air.

A: True.

Y: But this is the first time we conversed for this long.

A: It is, right?

Y: Yeah.

A: What did you think?

Y: It was a lot of fun.

A: How does it feel to be sitting in Chika-san’s seat?

Y: It’s cushion-y.

A: Feels great?

Y: Yes.

A: You’re thinking about stealing this position from him, aren’t you?

Y: No, no!

A: Let’s have Chika-san sit next to you in your former seat.

Y: No, no, no. I’ll sit on the sidelines.

A: But... I think it’d be appropriate to do that.

Y: No, no...

A: On January 7th. I mean, he’s off relaxing in Hawaii until January 7th!

Y: Oh, right. Yes.

A: So, when he returns, you should just casually seat yourself there.

Y: No way!

A: And none of us will mention a thing about it as we start the show.

Y: [laugh] But Chika-san has so many fans nationwide!

A: He does, you’re right!

Y: I bet they’re incredibly disappointed tonight!

A: [laugh] That’s not true.

Y: I feel terrible. B-But... he’s on break for a while, so we may make his fans wait.

A: That’s true.

Y: I’m sorry about that.

A: True, but it’s probably only during holiday season that Chika-san gets any break.

Y: Right.

A: Let’s forgive him.

Y: Yes.

A: And await his return.

Y: [laugh] Let’s wait.

A: Okay, then. Please listen in again next week. This was Arashi – Aiba Masaki’s Recomen! Arashi Remix. Your radio partner was Aiba Masaki from Arashi. See you next week. Bye-bye!

HAHAHAHA Aiba and his pants. The first thing that popped into my mind when he said he'll show some thigh was Aiba in hot pink hot pants. XD OH GOD. This needs to happen. I can see it now and it can't be unseen. I greatly approve.

For some reason, I can believe that Arashi doesn't talk about perverted things in the greenroom. Then again, I can totally believe it if he said they did too. IDK. I'm contradicting myself. I have a feeling Aiba wouldn't know whether or not anything "perverted" were being talked about or not anyway since he probably would just see it as average conversation.

Balut! OH. When the audio file comes out I might just download this to hear Aiba say "balut." I'd pay to see the Arashi boys eat that. Or throw up. I'd pay then throw up. LOL I'm contradicting myself so badly tonight.

Thank you as always! I want to thank you personally for your quick work with Freeter as well! Nino unit yay!

Aww... man.

Aiba-chan dodged so many questions.

I would have love to know who was the most perverted besides Aiba. :P

That girl is brave. Only 14 and asking those questions. HAHA!

Yano-kun sounds fun too.

Thanks for sharing. I love to listen to their radio shows even though I don't understand everything so I really appreciate this.

You're welcome! ^^ Usually, Aiba-chan's good about answering listeners' questions, so maybe he didn't want to admit he's the most perverted one. xD

Thanks for t/n.

To be honest, I was a little confused when I read the literal translation "pot sticker"... Think gyoza might sound better since its a common term?

I have uploaded the audio file to share here. (http://www.mediafire.com/?sx5m1688s6ec92q)

wish that aiba would answer that 'who's the most perverted in arashi'...i always thought they all had pervert talks, that they talk such things with each other once in a while..haha...
and pity at his brother that his birthday party is hold together with aiba's birhtday and christmas party...mine's just before valentine's..so everyone used to say that my bf would save his money on presents...and buying a birthday cake at that time is difficult since everyone are in valentine mood..
i always love aiba-length pants..it fits him well, though i don't want it to be shorten in the future...
thanks a lot for the translation!!! and (though it's late) Happy New Year to you!!!!

It's rare when Aiba avoids answering a listerner's question. I wonder what they talk about in the greenroom... maybe just daily happenings. Does it feel strange having your birthday near a well-known holiday?

I'm quite fond of the "Aiba-length" pants, too. <3

LOL at Aiba's shrinking pants~! XD

I'm also surprised that they actually know what balut is. Sometimes at night, balut vendors would go around selling balut nearby my house. I never really tried balut before, since I found it somewhat disgusting. I don't know why some people are surprised that I've never eaten balut before. ^^;;

Who is the most perverted? Aiba didn't really answer, did he...? >_>
And then the napes of necks.... reminded me ofNino's Gimmick Game performance O///O

You're welcome! :) I want to see those short shorts, Aiba! LOL.

In a previous Recomen from a couple months back, Aiba and Chika-san talk about balut. Ever since then, it seems to have become a recurring topic of discussion, esp. after Chika-san had to eat it because he lost to Aiba. xD

Maybe he didn't want to admit that he is the most perverted one, hehe. And YES, napes of the neck = Gimmick Game = x__x *dead fangirls*

I have a pair of pj shorts that I call my aiba shorts because they seem like ones he would wear (multi-colored knit print), except they are short shorts, not "aiba length," maybe he can borrow them!

Does anyone know what episode they show the napes of their neck?? (because I actually kind of like them... of course Aiba wouldn't care, he's a boob man!)

Happy New Year!

I like the Aiba-length pants as it does make him look taller. Though I kind of want to see Aiba-chan in short-shorts.

too bad he did not answer the "pervert" question. And even a 14 year old girl knows that Aiba is the most perverted one in Arashi (still remembers that he is the origin of that questionable video that was lent to Ohno who lent it to Sho who lost it)

Aiba's parents method of not giving both of their children Christmas gift is uncommon but in a way fair.I would have thought that Aiba would want to have separate celebrations for his child's birthday and Christmas since he has experienced the opposite.

I had also experienced having a mole appear out of nowhere and I'm not even sure how fast it appeared.

so Chika-san ate balut because he lost at something (this was the beginning of our comment convo before XD). I wonder where they bought the egg. I hope they do a "Returns" thing and let Aiba eat as well.

thank you for your translation!

You're welcome, dear! :D And Happy New Year to you, too.

I'm quite fond of the Aiba-length pants, too. But this man has such beautiful legs that if he were to show off his thighs, I wouldn't mind AT ALL, lol. I totally remember that video haha xD Of course, we can count on Sho (and his untidiness) to misplace the video.

I had some random moles appear out of nowhere, too. @_@ Near the end of the year, I was finding so many new ones orz.

Yes! The balut convos are back. xD I thought it was cute that Aiba started off the Chika-san conversation as if he we going to pick on him, but by the end, he was sick of complimenting him. <3 They've been a duo for so long; I'm sure they are special people for each other.

Okay, so when I saw the first few lines I already wanted to hear Aiba proclaiming that it's his birthday, so I was about to just wait for the audio file and then I saw on lj that someone uploaded it already! So it just started downloading and I was scrolling down the translation and I saw the word "balut"and I can't help but comment. KYAAA!!!!!!!!!!! I kinda feel like I've missed so many stuff. From what I've read so far Chika-san ate balut? Is it on air? And there are other crazy things they have done already???? Okay, I'm incoherent right now. I'm still waiting for the download of the audio file to finish before I can read fully and comment properly. :P

For now, thank you for this!!! It feels like a Christmas/New Year gift since it's somewhat special, as it is Aiba-chan's birthday. :P From your comment of "starting anew" (ala Seiji :P) to the mole/freckle fetish (which I totally have!!!!) to merely seeing the word "balut", I just can't wait to listen to the audio and read your translations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *hugs*

LOL xD You're welcome, hun! Your hyper comment makes me giggle.

It's not this particular episode, but Chika-san did eat balut (after losing to Aiba). I'll have to get to translating that one, too. I just skipped to this one because it was on his birthday.

I'll wait for your lengthy comment, then. <3 I've got a serious mole fetish (Nino fulfills all my fantasies, lol), and I can see why you like 'em, too. On a slight sidenote, I hope you enjoyed Freeter~!
